Hardship loans for the unemployed can be difficult to attain. At Sunshine Loans, we require you to be able to show us that you are earning $300 per week (take-home pay) in order to apply for a loan. It can be a combination of government benefits and wages but unfortunately, we cannot provide assistance to those whose only income is Centrelink or similar. This is because we follow responsible lending practices.

Hardship Loan for Bad Credit

If you have bad credit, that's okay – we may still be able to offer you a hardship loan for bad credit. Credit history isn't always a true indicator of how you will handle your money now or in the future, and we always take into account your individual situation when you apply.

Hardship Loans for Students

Balancing study and work can be difficult, which is why we are happy to provide hardship loans for students to help pay for course fees, textbooks and more. We just need you to show us that you can earn $300 per week through a combination of work and government benefits such as Austudy, and we'll help you out with a small loan.

How much can I borrow?

We offer loans of up to $2,000. However, we encourage you to borrow within your means and to request only what you need and are comfortable with paying back.

Hardship Loans Costs and Eligibility

The cost of our loans for financial hardship are outlined on our loan costs page. In general, we ask for a 20% establishment fee and an ongoing fee of 4% per month, both calculated from the total amount borrowed.
