The most frequently asked questions about our short-term loans.

If you have signed a contract offer before 4:30 PM QLD time your money has been transferred to the account you signed for. It should be available before 7:00 PM today QLD time.

Unfortunately, we cannot give you an exact time as much depends on the banks and their processing times. Contracts signed on the weekend or public holidays will clear by the end of the next business day.

Am I eligible for an express loan with Sunshine?

To get a loan with Sunshine Loans, you must be at least 18 years old. Secondly, you must have a regular income of at least $300/week (take home pay) which can be a combination of employment and government benefits. Unfortunately, if your income only comes from Centrelink or pension payments, you are not eligible. Finally, you must be able to satisfy us that you can comfortably afford the repayments on your current budget. As part of our commitment to responsible lending, we will not lend to those who might be placed in a position of financial hardship as a result of our lending.

What if I am unemployed or on a pension?

You must be earning a minimum of $300 per week (take home pay). While this income can be a combination of wages and government benefits, it cannot come from Centrelink or government benefits only.

How much does it cost to get a loan?

Head on over to our loan costs page for a full explanation of our fees. It’s really simple though. There is an establishment fee of 20% of the amount borrowed and a monthly loan fee of 4% of the amount borrowed. These are flat fees, established when you get the loan.

How long do your loans go for?

Our loans generally run for a period of 9 weeks, but you can pay out early at any time without incurring penalties.

What can I use my short-term loan for?

We provide express funds for almost anything. Need a little extra for a bond payment or rent? Unexpected vehicle repairs take you by surprise? Not to mention when the fridge or washing machine breaks, or a sudden medical bill or even a vet bill for your favourite pet? Or perhaps you just need that little extra for a car, bike, boat, or holiday? The list goes on – just ask us!

Can I get a loan if I’m self-employed?

Absolutely, we often provide loans to self-employed people for business and personal use. Self-employed people have rainy days too! Tools break, the computer needs an upgrade, tax time takes you by surprise. No worries.

When can I submit my application?

Since the application process is entirely online… 24/7.

How long does the process take?

Most of the time, you’ll have express funds on the same day! It does depend though: if your loan is approved and signed during normal business hours, the funds will be in your bank account on the same day during normal business hours. Sometimes, bank processing delays will knock it over to the next day.

Can I repay the loan early?

You absolutely can, and without any penalties. Even in little bits and pieces, we don’t mind at all.

What happens if I can’t pay on time?

Don’t worry! As rainy day fund experts, we know that it never rains, but it pours. If you think you might not be able to pay on time, get in touch as soon as possible via Customer Support so we can discuss some options. We need 2 business days notice for rescheduling or adjusting payments.

What if I miss a payment or want to defer a payment during my loan?

You will incur fees. So it’s a good idea to get in touch ahead of time via Customer Support so we can discuss some options.

What if I need a few extra dollars during my loan?

Unfortunately, you must pay out existing loans first. As part of our commitment to responsible lending, and the legislation that governs our industry, we can’t lend to someone who already has a loan with us. But you can apply again immediately after you’ve paid out your existing loan. We even have a quicker and easier application for previous customers.

What are your office hours?

We run on Queensland time, 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. But you can apply online 24/7!
